Something exciting is happening at Cardinal Valley!
Filmmaker Meredith Ludwig is creating a documentary about the restoration of Webb City’s reclaimed mining lands. Over the past couple of years, she and her Director of Photography and Editor, Aaron Phillips, have walked Cardinal Valley trails with us, filming wildlife, capturing local interviews, and sharing the personal stories of Webb City residents and others.
The film highlights how almost 1,000 acres of once-mined land are healing—turning waste back into healthy soil that supports native plants, pollinators, and wildlife while saving municipal resources. It’s a model for communities everywhere and shows how thoughtful restoration can benefit both nature and people.
We’re excited to announce that the documentary is nearing completion and will premiere in Webb City this June.
